I tend to ask a lot of questions when it comes to my body and what is going on in it. I was surprised to find out a few things while I was having my ultrasound during my third pregnancy.
Everyone is always concerned about the umbilical cord being wrapped around the baby's neck. I was pleased to find out my baby didn't but then it occurred to me... why aren't we ALWAYS worried about this? I asked and the technician told me that umbilical cords have a slime on them that helps to prevent entanglement.
The other thing I was surprised to hear about was that the technicians (of course this probably varies from company to company) are not required to notify you if the umbilical cord is around the neck unless it's wrapped around 3 or more times. Personally, I'd like to know if it's wrapped around once!
The other thing that might be useful to pass on is that 3 parallel lines in the genital area means it's a girl. Now that you know that, you should look away when they scan there if you don't want to know what you are having!!!
