Also at my meal time table are two circular floor mats under each child's seat. These are inexpensive, yet priceless and have literally saved my floor from spilled foods and beverages. 
They also both use booster seats as opposed to highchairs. I have found them to be better overall and now that my son doesn't need the tray anymore I am able to alternate the trays in the dishwasher on a regular basis.
