Breastfeeding A Toddler

Posted On: 2012-02-10

When my son turned one year old it was bittersweet as it usually is for mothers that see their baby grow into a toddler. I soon after discovered I was pregnant and my milk had changed in such a way that he did not like, so he self-weaned. It was alright but I had wanted to breastfeed him longer than the first year. C'est la vie.

Now that my daughter is a year old (and I don't intend to become pregnant) I continue to breastfeed her. Interestingly enough I have found that both of my kids bit me once really hard while nursing, enough to draw blood but after that just tend to nibble. That is exactly what my daughter has been doing as she has cut all five of her teeth. I'm curious as to how nursing will be in the near future as she gets even more teeth but we'll cross that path when we get there.

Well, the other day I decided that I'd return the favor and nibble on my daughter's toes while she nursed! That is all :-)
