Learning About Owies

ScrapedKnee

When I was six months pregnant with my daughter, my son Dylan was 18 months old. While packing up to go somewhere I tripped on my front door's cement stairs, landing on my knees and hands. It hurt pretty bad and when I got inside and pulled up my pant leg I saw that I was bleeding pretty good.

Cleaning Up A Home Birth

AbbyAnnouncement

Around 1:30am I was helped up and out of bed to go potty and take a shower. I was amazed that it didn't hurt to urinate even though I had some internal stitches. I was then helped into the shower and was monitored by my midwife to make sure I wasn't going to faint.

The Birth Of My Daughter

FirstFamPhoto

Stripping Membranes After My First Contractions

Once at the clinic I did the usual urine screen, weight check, blood pressure etc. I was hoping that my midwife would find that I was dilated more than the 1cm I had been the previous week. IMHO: Birth Doula

BACKGROUND: When I was pregnant with my first child I had determined that I wanted a natural birth and wanted someone with experience there to help me through the labor and try Doulato help it go the way I wanted it to. I also didn't want all the weight of my labor support needs to be on my husband because he wouldn't have a clue what to do. The last thing I wanted on the day our son was born was to get mad or frustrated at my husband during the labor.

Planning A Home Birth

I realized that I wanted to have a home birth. With my due date in January and the possibility of snow conditions I figured it would be a better option overall. In addition, I no longer felt scared about birth. I started preparing right away and did the following things...

Hypothyroidism During Pregnancy

38Weeks

I live with hypothyroidism every day as some of you might know from my previous blog: I Still Get Angry At Night. I am 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to cover some of the restrictions and routines I have had to follow while on medication for it.

IMHO: Photography & Video During Births

BACKGROUND: Today in society we are on camera all the time, everywhere we go. It's also no surprise to see a camera during the happiest moments in people's lives including their engagement, wedding, new cars, DylanBirthall the first's with children etc. If you think about it, all of these events are personal accomplishments that don't directly involve the workers at the time you take the pictures. In other words, you aren't taking pictures of the person selling you the engagement ring or the car salesman writing up their paperwork... so why would you take a picture of medical professionals delivering your baby?
