My Infant Fell Down The Stairs

toddlerstairs

Before I even begin... you have to understand how dreadful this experience was, regardless of how it happened, the sound of hearing my baby falling down the stairs is something that haunts me every day.

Allergic to Penicillin

penicillinallergy

When we got home from attending three different family gatherings on Thanksgiving, I removed my son's clothes and I began crying immediately... he had a rash all over his arms and legs starting at his elbows and knees and spreading out.

My Toddler Had Cosmetic Surgery

toddlersurgery

I was mortified when he asked me to lean over and lock my son's knees while holding both his hands down. In this position I was right in his face trying to comfort his screams as the doctor cleansed the wound to prep it for the anesthetic. It wasn't until I saw him pull the piece of lacerated ear up that I knew the extent of this injury, it was worse than I thought. A nurse was also there to try to hold his head steady. I broke down and cried with my son, he was in so much pain and I couldn't do anything about it.

My Toddler Needs Stitches

toddlerstitches

He fell backwards and I immediately grabbed him and held him like I always do when he cries but this time was different. I felt a warmth against my neck that I quickly discovered was blood and then immediately saw his ear had been lacerated by the bookcase on the way down...

Infant Poked In The Eye

InfantEye

Accidents happen yes, but it's even more unfortunate when the accident happens while trying to prevent one. There I was starting a load of laundry and holding my daughter in my right arm. I turned around to leave the laundry room but the door had closed partially... if I didn't act fast I would walk her right into the corner of the door and she'd hit her head...

Guidelines for Walks with Toddlers

Walk

I took my toddler and 4-month-old for a walk in the first beautifully warm sunny day of Spring this past Sunday. It's the first time I've let my toddler walk and not be in a stroller and as we did it I thought of several things that need to be considered before doing this.

Difficult Day At The Park

Playground

Last week when the sun finally came out I decided to take my son to a park but we wanted to get some lunch first at Taco Bell. As I approached Taco Bell with Dylan holding my left hand, Abby in my right...I quickly let go of Dylan's hand to swing the door open wide so we could all go in before it closed. Well, Dylan moved directly in front of the door and I hit him right in the forehead with it!

2 Kids Under 2: Curiosity and Bumps

CarseatStairs

I was still recovering when we left the house with Abby for the first time. I couldn't bend down completely to get Abby out of her car seat so we placed it a few stairs up on a landing inside the house. We went about our day until we heard an awful crash followed by Dylan crying.

2 Kids Under 2: Sling At Grocery Store

InfantinoSlingAbby

I decided to go to the grocery store and try out the sling
method I mentioned in my recent Grocery Store blog post. I got everyone ready to leave and as I was leaving FedEx was
delivering the Moby wrap I had purchased recently, go figure. I got the sling ready for Abby, got her in there,
and around my neck. Instantly I remembered the pain of the single-side
sling.

Winter Coat Warning

Carseat

A friend of mine posted a link to an article and video that discussed something that I had been thinking about. My son has a big puffy ski-like winter coat and it was really difficult to strap him into his car seat while wearing it and I thought to myself, maybe he'd be better off without it on... turns out my instinct was correct!
